A department of neurosurgery is looking for an APP to join the department. This is a primarily outpatient position working in the outpatient clinic. The department prefers a candidate with experience in neurosurgery or neurology. The incoming APP will work with brain tumors, any neuro-oncology experience would be preferred. The department requires at least 1 year of experience as an NP or PA.
The incoming APP will maintain a clinic of 4 to 8 half-day sessions per week within the Cancer Center, specializing in brain tumor and brain metastasis care. Primary work hours will be 7:00AM to 4:00PM, Monday through Friday (40 hours). Will see scheduled postoperative and wound checks, screen new patients with vague diagnoses and make arrangements for further diagnostic testing. Work closely with the supervising physician to determine appropriate treatment plans for each patient and surgical needs.
The incoming APP will also be in charge of the physician’s OR schedules and accurately posting surgical cases with appropriate equipment, personnel, etc. The incoming candidate will work and interact very closely with patients, including rounding on in-patients with the neurosurgeon. The incoming candidate will also participate in the multi-disciplinary tumor boards for the Brain Tumor Center and Center for Brain and Spine Metastasis.
