A hospital in Newark, New Jersey is seeking a BE/ BC Vascular Neurologist to serve as Medical Director of Stroke Neurology. The department is looking for a candidate with at least 5 years of leadership experience, ideally leadership experience within a Primary Stroke Center or Comprehensive Stroke Center.
The Stroke Medical Director position requires clinical and administrative leadership time. Clinical time includes seeing patients in both the inpatient and outpatient setting and responding to Code Strokes, serving as a consultant, etc. Administratively, the facility is on the journey to move from a primary stroke center to becoming thrombectomy capable and possibly comprehensive. The incoming Medical Director of Stroke will be active in their leadership role; attending meetings, actively engaging with key stakeholders across the organization, and serving as physician lead in driving the quality outcomes in collaboration with the stroke team.
The stroke team is growing, they have been awarded a grant and have added 3 positions (stroke coordinator, nurse navigator, APN) to support the program in advancing to a higher level of certification. This team would work closely with the incoming medical director. The facility is a Primary Stroke Center.
Salary is based on experience, in the $425-450k range.
