A private practice in Reno is seeking a Neurosurgical Physician Assistant to join their group. Ideally the group is looking for a candidate with neurosurgery and/ or spine experience, preferring at least 1 year including First Assist experience since becoming a PA.
The PAs work with one dedicated neurosurgeon however there is cross collaboration with the other neurosurgeons as well. The position is available due to growth, a new neurosurgeon will be starting in the Fall of 2021. Currently there are 5 PAs and 3 Neurosurgeons in the practice, it is a multi-specialty practice with neurosurgery and pain management. The incoming PA will also assist in the operating room as trained and directed, as well as assist with call coverage and weekend rounds as scheduled.
The hours are M-F 7:30-5:00, the incoming PA will have clinic 3-4 days per week and OR call 1-2 days per week, OR hours are typically 6:00 am-7:00 pm. The PAs split up the morning rounding at the hospitals. Call is split evenly amongst the PAs, practice call is split with surgeons and is roughly 1 in 7 as well as trauma call which is combined with practice call on those specific days.
