A private practice in Reno is seeking a BE/BC neurosurgeon to join their busy and well-established group. Most of the current case mix is spine, largely out-patient elective spine. There is significant potential for the incoming neurosurgeon to have some sub-specialization in deformity spine, currently the practice has the largest deformity spine practice referral in the area.
This practice was recently benchmarked by Medtronic Health Economic Strategies as one of the top practices in the country. A candidate with spine training or experience is preferred, but a spine fellowship is not required. The practice will consider experienced neurosurgeons, or 2016 residents or fellows.
This position benefits from established referral lines and exceptional volume from a market area whose population exceeds 1 million. The position is available primarily due to demand; the principal neurosurgeon handles between 500 and 600 cases annually, and sees more than 1,000 patients per year.
The incoming neurosurgeon will join the existing practice and will share call responsibilities with other neurosurgeons in the community. The practice will support most of the incoming neurosurgeon’s particular interests, and will involve ER call for general neurosurgery. The case mix is predominantly spine surgery, mostly minimally invasive procedures. Group call is 1:2, and ER call 1:9.
The current neurosurgeon is earning in the MGMA top 90th percentile. This position offers excellent reimbursement, which ranks in the top percentile. The incoming neurosurgeon can choose between an employment model with the affiliated hospital, or a private-practice incentive model with the practice itself. The area features good school systems and year-round recreation, including skiing and mountain biking.
