A Pennsylvania university seeks a BE/BC neuro-critical care neurosurgeon for a department position. The department is looking for a neurosurgeon who has sufficient expertise to manage their neuro-critical care unit. The department prefers a candidate with training or equivalent experience in neuro-critical care or surgical critical care, and neuro-ICU experience is also preferred.
The incoming neurosurgeon will share coverage of a multidisciplinary 16 bed neuro-critical care unit (NCCU) with three other neurosurgeon neuro-intensivists and a neuro-anesthesiology intensivist. While covering the NCCU, in one-week blocks, the incoming surgeon will have no other clinical responsibilities. A subspecialty or general neurosurgery elective practice can be pursued three out of four weeks.
Other preferred sub-specialty interests for the incoming neurosurgeon’s clinical practice, in addition to general neurosurgery, can include neuro-trauma and neuro-critical care. The facility’s Neuro ICU is a Level I trauma center, acute brain and spine injury center, and comprehensive stroke center. The university offers an accredited neurosurgery residency program. The facility offers highly competitive salaries and a generous benefit package, including 75% tuition reduction for full-time employees and their dependents.
